Mission Statement
We, the people of St. Mary's Parish of Iowa City, are a Eucharistic community whose mission is to worship and pray, to grow in faith and discipleship, and to serve those who are in need. Adult Formation Highlights: Dan Teets, Director

Catechetical sessions
were offered two times during year (on Tuesday evenings from Mardi Gras through
Corpus Christi Sunday and again on Sunday mornings from late August through mid
December) for those wishing to become Catholic, for adult Confirmation
candidates and catechumens.
?
A Morning of
Reflection was held in the spring and the fall for converts and adult
Confirmation candidates with the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of
Reconciliation the day before they were received into the Catholic church and/or
confirmed.
?
The Rites of
Initiation for converts and adult candidates for Confirmation and/or First Holy
Communion were celebrated on and Pentecost Sunday in the spring and Christ the
King Sunday in the fall.
?
Catechumens
(adults preparing for Baptism) were dismissed from Mass for Breaking Open the
Word from Christ the King weekend through Palm Sunday with the Rites of
Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and First Eucharist) celebrated during the
Easter Vigil.

St. Anthony?s Bread: founded by Adelaide Bulgarelli

St. Anthony?s Bread serves as
a means for our parishioners and other donors to give assistance to the poor in
Johnson County, usually for emergency needs.?
St. Anthony?s Bread had a
total income of $45, 279.96 in 2005. We spent $41,027.57, including $3,250 for
Christmas assistance. We served 447 different individuals or families, not
including those served through Project Holiday. Our expenses were $282.48 for
stamps and printing.
