The Palm Sunday Mass times are 8:30 AM and 10:30 AM. Please note this change for next Sunday only. Saturday’s Mass is still at 5:10 PM.

 

INCENSE NOTICE

 

Incense will be used on Holy Thursday and at the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday. Incense will also be used on Easter Sunday and throughout the Easter season at the 9:30 AM Mass.

 

Operation Rice Bowl

 

As we continue our Operation Rice Bowl journey, let us remember in prayer that we are one human family, regardless of our differences. Answering the call to love our neighbors will promote a culture of respect and lead to peace in our communities around the world. May our almsgiving support Catholic Relief Services in their work to improve the lives of those who live with few resources and little hope.

Scrip News

 

WOW! Thanks to everyone that stopped at the Scrip table last week. We sold over $1,100 worth of gift certificates and St. Mary's share of the profits was over $140! We will be outside from now on, weather permitting, after every weekend Mass to sell Scrip. In bad weather, we will be in the parish hall. Feel free to stop by the table for more information.

Chrism Mass

 

This Wednesday, April 5th, the Chrism Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Davenport at 4 PM. At this Mass, the Oil of the Sick, the Oil of the Catechumens, and the Sacred Chrism will be blessed by Bishop William Franklin. The priests of our diocese will renew their commitment to priestly service. All are welcome to attend this wonderful celebration.

 

Craft Group

 

The Craft Group will be meeting on Wednesday, April 5th, at 7 PM. Everyone is welcome!

 

Holy Hour for Vocations

 

St. Mary's Holy Hour for Vocations will be Thursday, April 6th at 7 PM in the church. Please join us.

 

City Wide Communal Penance Schedule

Palm Sunday Children's Procession

 

Next Sunday morning, April 9th, shortly before Mass begins, the children will be invited to assemble at the entrance of the church. They will participate in the Palm Sunday procession. Following the procession, they will go downstairs for the Liturgy of the Word. They will return to the church at the usual time.

 

Meet the Candidates Weekend

 

On the weekend of April 22nd and 23rd, we will have the opportunity to meet our candidates for the Regina Board of Education following each of the weekend Masses. Join John Buatti, Gregory Hamilton, and Patrice Carroll, our candidates, for coffee and discussion of Regina issues. You will vote for one candidate on April 29th and 30th in the parish hall.

Regina Booster Club Fish Fry

 

Come and enjoy the Annual Booster Club Fish Fry at Regina Education Center every Friday through April 14th from 5-8 PM. Shrimp or salmon dinners will be $9 and cod or catfish dinners will be $8. To go orders may be called in after 4:30 PM to 338-5436.

OTHER HAPPENINGS

 

Catfish and Salmon Dinner! Join the Knights of Columbus every Friday during the season of Lent for a catfish and salmon dinner. They will be serving from 5-7 PM at the Knights of Columbus Hall.

 

The Mercy Hospital Bereavement Support Program will meet each Wednesday beginning April 5th, at 9:30 AM. In the First Floor Conference Room of Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. The program welcomes any adult grieving a loss or the death of a loved one. For more information or to register, call 358-2767.

 

The Crisis Center Suicide Survivor’s Support Group will be hosting Nick Longworth, pastor at St. Luke's Hospital, who will be speaking on "Bereavement and Finding Your Way Through a Strange Land." Nick's presentation will be on Thursday, April 6th from 7-8:30 PM at the Crisis Center. Those who have lost a friend or loved one to suicide are invited to attend. Spring Bake Sale! St. Wenceslaus' Spring Bake Sale will be Saturday, April 8th, from 10 AM-11 AM or until they are sold out of kolaches, cinnamon rolls, and other baked goods.
