City High Cathedral Concerts

 

The City High School choirs will have their annual Cathedral Concert today at 3:00PM and 6:00PM here at St. Mary's. All are welcome to come and hear beautiful sacred music selections performed by high school youth!

 

St. Mary's Adult Enrichment

 

There will not be an enrichment session April 11th because of Holy Week.

 

Meet the Candidates Weekend

 

On the weekend of April 22nd and 23rd, we will have the opportunity to meet our candidates for the Regina Board of Education following each of the weekend Masses. Join John Buatti, Gregory Hamilton, and Patrice Carroll, our candidates, for coffee and discussion of Regina issues. You will vote for one candidate on April 29th and 30th in the parish hall.

 

ABSENTEE BALLOTS

 

If you are unable to vote in the Regina School Board elections on April 29th or 30th, due to a scheduling conflict, please stop in or phone the parish office for an absentee ballot. All confirmed members of St. Mary's are eligible to vote. Absentee ballots must be returned to the parish office prior to the 5:10 PM Mass on Saturday, April 29th.

 

 

REGINA HAPPENINGS

 

 

Regina Booster Club Fish Fry

 

Come and enjoy the Annual Booster Club Fish Fry at Regina Education Center every Friday through April 14th from 5-8 PM. Shrimp or salmon dinners will be $9 and cod or catfish dinners will be $8. To go orders may be called in after 4:30 PM to 338-5436.

 

Regina Tuition Scholarships

 

Have you thought about sending your children to Regina, but were uncertain because of tuition fees? Or, are you currently a Regina family having trouble meeting tuition costs? Many generous donors have given of their treasure to ensure all families have the opportunity of a Catholic education. Five new endowed scholarships have been created for 2006. The average award is $500 per student. Applications are available on Regina's website. Hard copies are also available at the Catholic Community Foundation office. All applications must be returned to the Regina office, or the Catholic Community Foundation by April 17, at 3 PM.

 

Regina Distinguished Alumni Award

 

The Catholic Community Foundation will award the 5th annual Distinguished Alumni Award during graduation ceremonies on May 28th, 2006. The awards are specifically designed to recognize one male and one female alum whose lives and actions embody the teachings of Jesus Christ and the ideals of a Regina Catholic education. The award may be given posthumously. ANYONE may nominate a candidate. Criteria and nomination forms for the award can be found on the Regina website , or contacting the Catholic Community Foundation at 354-5866.
Nominations are due April 21st, 2006.

Elementary Registration - Regina Elementary is currently accepting registrations for Kindergarten through 6th Grade. If you would like more information, please contact the office at 337-5739.

 

Teaching Positions - Regina Jr./Sr. High School has openings for 6 week substitutes beginning in August for the following subjects: French 3 and 4, Middle School Math and English. Interested individuals should send a letter of application, resume, and copy of their State of Iowa teaching certificate to Mr. Ray Pechous at Regina High School.

 

A Director of Student Services is needed at Regina Jr./Sr. High School. Candidates should have or be working towards a Counselor's endorsement. Regina Summer Day Camp - Registration packets are now available for the Regina Summer Day Camp. Packets may be picked up at the Regina Elementary Office. Camp runs for eight weeks in the summer, June 12-August 4, 2006.

 

OTHER HAPPENINGS

 

The Catholic Daughters of America will meet on April 18th at 6:30 PM at St. Patrick's Parish Hall. Please note the date change due to Holy Week. Winners of the education contest will be our guests. All area Catholic women are invited to attend.

 

Project Andrew Dinner Project Andrew is a simple program sponsored by our Diocesan Vocation Office that asks priests to invite single men to an informal meal with Bishop Franklin and area priests. During the meal, the bishop and priests share stories of their call and ministry in order to spread the message about the vocation of ordained priesthood. If you know of a young man you would like to see attend, please contact Fr. Ken, so that he can extend to him a personal invitation to learn about the priesthood.
