CONGRATULATIONS!

Congratulations to Stephanie Schimanski and T. J. Cradick who were married this weekend at St. Mary's!

FROM BISHOP FRANKLIN

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Hurricane Katrina was the worst natural disaster in our nation’s history and brought indescribable
devastation to the Archdiocese of New Orleans and the Diocese of Biloxi. Last year, in the days and weeks following the storm, you reached out with prayerful support, encouragement and financial gifts for humanitarian needs through a special emergency collection.

The ongoing needs for diocesan recovery from the catastrophic devastation remain staggering and
extremely urgent. Therefore, at the USCCB June General Assembly, the bishops of the United States unanimously approved a second national collection for those two dioceses which will be held the weekend of August 26-27, 2006.

While the first collection was primarily designated to assist individuals rebuild their lives, this collection will assist in the financing of ministry and the rebuilding/repairing of parishes, schools and other buildings where the ministries of the Church are offered to assist people.

Once again, I thank you for your great generosity in helping the people of these dioceses as they continue the urgent struggle to rebuild and recover their hope and their lives.

Sincerely, in the peace and joy of Christ,

(Most Rev.) Wm. E. Franklin
Bishop of Davenport

At this Mass, we will remember and pray for all law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency personnel, as well as those who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

Tri-Parish Religious Education Needs You

One hundred years from now,
It will not matter what kind of car you drove,
How much money you had in the bank,
Nor what your clothes look like.
But the world may be a little better
Because you were important in the life of a CHILD.

Take time to pray, reflect and listen to God's calling. Our Religious Education Program may be the
ministry you are being called to. For information on how to become a Catechist, call Sr. Mary Frank at 351-7638.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

Registration for Tri-Parish Religious Education at Regina is taking place now. Parent packets were sent in the mail the first week of August. If you have not received yours, please the Religious Education Office at 351-7638. It is very important that we receive the registrations as soon as possible.

OTHER HAPPENINGS

"One holy, Catholic, apostolic Church." We say we believe in it every week. Come join a small group and reflect again on what it means. Why Catholic? A Journey through the New Catechism of the Catholic Church is a great way to take a new look at what we believe and why we believe it.

THOUGHTS ON STEWARDSHIP

Joshua dramatically offered the Israelites a choice to follow God or to serve other gods. In our daily life we face the same choice: to pursue the things of this world or to choose God.

Choose Life Prayer - We pray for all husbands and wives, mothers and fathers, that they may protect and nurture each life given to them as a gift from God.

Vocation View - Lord, to whom should we go? There is no where else to go. Follow Jesus, come what may. (John 6:60-69)
